KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- In conjunction with Malaysia’s 68th National Day, Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Muamalat) has contributed RM30,000 to support 50 families of Malaysian Armed Forces veterans, retired Royal Malaysia Police personnel and media staff.

In a statement today, the bank said the contribution recognises the service and sacrifice of the nation’s heroes while extending support to families in the asnaf, B40 and critically ill categories.

“In addition to cash aid, Bank Muamalat organised the ‘Kongsi Rezeki Bersama Wira Negara’ programme, where bank employees distributed essential food packs to veterans’ families,” it said.

To further promote unity during the National Month, the bank held a National Day gathering with employees and distributed Jalur Gemilang flags to the public.

The bank also launched a social media contest, ‘Follow dan Menang Bangga Malaysia’, offering an iPhone 16E as the grand prize.

Bank Muamalat described National Day as an essential platform to strengthen unity among Malaysians of all backgrounds and build a more harmonious society.

“National Day is not just a celebration. It is a reminder of the sacrifices of past generations and our responsibility to build a more prosperous and united Malaysia,” said Bank Muamalat president and chief executive officer Khairul Kamarudin.

He said the bank’s contributions to Armed Forces veterans, retired police personnel and media representatives were a gesture of appreciation for their service.

“At the same time, we believe the spirit of patriotism and solidarity shown today will drive our mission of delivering ‘Better Lives, Together’ (Kehidupan Lebih Baik, Bersama) to the community,” he said in the same statement.

The bank also expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people, calling on Malaysians to continue praying for their safety, peace and freedom.
