KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- The national squad, also known as the Speedy Tigers, secured a victory in a 'Super Four' match at the 2025 Men's Hockey Asia Cup in Bihar, India, after defeating China 2-0 today.
In the match at the Bihar Sports University Hockey Stadium, both teams were unable to score during the first half.
In the second half, Syed Mohamad Syafiq Syed Cholan put Malaysia ahead by successfully converting a penalty corner shot in the 45th minute.
In the final quarter, Malaysia added another field goal through Mohamad Akhimullah Anuar Esook in the 47th minute, securing the win for the Speedy Tigers squad.
The victory currently places Sarjit Singh's team at the top of the Super Four standings with three points, ahead of hosts India and South Korea (both without points).
Malaysia is scheduled to face India tomorrow and will play their final match of the round against South Korea two days later, as they aim for a spot in the final.
The top two teams in the Super Four round will qualify for the tournament's final.
