Felda United score slim win over Melaka

MARAN, March 12  -- Felda United head coach Mohd Nidzam Jamil can now heave a sigh of relief following his team’s slim win 3-2 over Melaka in their Super League match on Wednesday.

Mohd Nidzam said he was happy with fighting spirit shown by the Fighters and hoped it would continue to ensure their competitiveness in this season.

He said the match against Melaka was like driving without a seatbelt when his players looked ‘unsure’ after leading 2-0.

“But the good thing is that they managed to get through the game and hold on well, once they realised they could not afford to lose points.

“It’s not easy for us as Melaka is a formidable team. However, a slim win is enough to earn us three points,” he told reporters after the match at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium here yesterday.

Playing at home ground gave them an added advantage when Argentinian import Nicholas Velez scored the team’s first goal in the seventh minute.

The Fighters' second goal was scored by striker Khairul Amri Mohamad Kamal in the 15th minute before Valez sealed Felda United’s victory in the 63rd minute.
