KUALA TERENGGANU, March 13 – Terengganu FC II (TFC II) fought back from a goal down to edge Kelantan 2-1 for their fourth straight Premier League win at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu today.
This match marked the first time that a M-League game was being played behind closed doors as a safety measure following the COVID-19 outbreak.
Visitors Kelantan showed they had no problem playing in an empty stadium as they shot into the lead in the 31st minute when Nigerian striker Felix Odili headed the ball past TFC II goalkeeper Mohd Suhaimi Husin.
But TFC II, coached by Roshadi Wahab, showed they were made of sterner stuff these days. Just two minutes later, they were level at 1-1 when Burno Suzuki sent in a delightful cross for Ghanaian Jordan Mintah to volley home.
The homesters sealed all three points when Muhamad Zuasyaraf Zulkeflie’s in-swinging corner sailed straight into goal, leaving Kelantan goalkeeper Mohamad Faridzuaean Kamaruddin stumped.
Earlier today, Malaysian Football League president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin announced that all Super League, Premier League, M3 League and M4 League matches today, tomorrow and Sunday would be held in empty stadiums due to COVID-19.
Hamidin, who is also the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president, also announced that all matches, including the FA Cup preliminaries, will be suspended from Monday (March 16) in a bid to prevent the spread of the virus.
