SEPANG, Dec 17 -- Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the parent of Malaysia Airlines Bhd, said the group is positive on the future of the aviation industry but remains cautious at the same time, said its group chief executive officer Captain Izham Ismail.
He said the COVID-19 pandemic had tremendous impacts on the airlines' bottom line and MAG had laid out a Long Term Business Plan 2.0 for it to break even by 2023.
"We hope to break even by 2023," he told reporters after the welcoming ceremony of Malaysia's first flight using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) operated by Malaysia Airlines' A330-200 aircraft here today.
It was reported that MAG is cautiously optimistic about breaking even by 2023 after securing over RM15 billion savings in liabilities from its restructuring.
Izham said MAG today is lean and agile following the restructuring exercise in March this year.
