LABUAN, Dec 9 (Bernama) -- The Borneo Martial Arts Expo (BMAEX), the biggest martial arts event in Borneo, is back here after a two-year hiatus.

BMAEX 2022 organising chairman Tan Chee Haw said 150 participants from 20 teams in Penang, Johor, Sarawak, Sabah, Brunei and Labuan would be taking part in the two-day event which begins tomorrow at the Palm Beach Resort and SPA.

He said the events to be featured include combat fights of wushu wanda, low-kick kickboxing and the much-awaited event of full-contact kickboxing.

“We expect more than 5,000 people from outside of Labuan to flock to the venue,” he told Bernama today.

Tan said BMAEX 2022’s main objective is to provide an international platform for participants to gain experience and enhance their profile in the martial arts field.

He said BMAEX founder Alvin Chong is scheduled to launch the newly invented kickboxing culture under the guidance of the International Sport Karate Association (ISKA) Borneo.

The event aims to unify martial arts practitioners, promoters and fitness enthusiasts by promoting the positive values of martial arts.

Started in 2018, the ISKA Borneo-sanctioned BMAEX is jointly organised by the Labuan Wushu Association, Labuan Kickboxing Sport Association, Labuan Media Practitioner Association with the support of the Labuan Corporation.
