JAKARTA, July 3 (Bernama) -- ASEAN secretary-general Dr Kao Kim Hourn has urged China General Technology (Group) Holding Co Ltd to enhance its networks and increase investments within the ASEAN region.
The call was made during a meeting with the company’s general manager, Cui Zhicheng, held in Beijing on Tuesday, according to the ASEAN Secretariat in a statement on Wednesday.
The discussions also focused on strengthening collaborations between ASEAN and China, particularly in advancing technological innovation, enhancing medical and health cooperation, and exploring opportunities across various sectors within ASEAN.
Established in 1998, China General Technology, also known as Genertec, is involved in advanced manufacturing and technical services, medical and healthcare, and trade and engineering services.
During his visit to China, Kao also met with the president of China Railway Construction Corporation Ltd (CRCC), Wang Lixin, at the company’s headquarters on Tuesday.
Discussions centered on potential cooperation in rail transport and infrastructure development between ASEAN and China, aimed at bolstering long-term regional connectivity, sustainability, and resilience.
Kao toured the China Railway Construction Exhibition Hall, where he observed CRCC’s cutting-edge innovations in railway infrastructure projects, highlighting Chinese advancements in railway technology and achievements in railway construction.
