UAE DENOUNCES SHOOTING INCIDENT IN OMAN

ABU DHABI, July 17 (Bernama-WAM) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly condemned the shooting incident in a mosque courtyard in Wadi Kabir, Oman, which resulted in several deaths and injuries. The UAE expressed solidarity with Oman and fully supports the measures taken to protect its security and stability.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) affirmed that the UAE expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence, which undermine security and stability, and endanger the lives of the population, in contravention of international law, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the government and people of the Sultanate of Oman, and to the families of the victims of this heinous crime, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured.

Meanwhile in another news from Cairo, WAM reported the Secretariat General of the Arab League has strongly condemned the shooting incident in Wadi Kabir in Muscat, Oman, which led to several deaths and injuries, including a police officer.

In a statement Tuesday, the Secretariat General of the Arab League expressed its solidarity with the Sultanate of Oman in any measures it deems necessary to maintain its peace and stability.

The statement conveyed the condolences of the Secretary-General of the Arab League to the Sultanate's government and people, and to the families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

According to earlier media reports at least four people were killed and several others were wounded by gunfire in the incident that took place in the vicinity of a mosque in the Al-Wadi Al-Kabir area of Muscat, Oman Tuesday.
