KUALA LUMPUR, July 19 (Bernama) -- Harapan Youth (AMH) has expressed its support and readiness to help the Barisan Nasional (BN) campaign in the Nenggiri state by-election and to ensure victory for the BN candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani.
Its secretary Omar Mokhtar A. Manap said the decision was made at the Harapan Youth Leadership Council meeting yesterday.
"Harapan Youth also calls on all Pakatan Harapan (PH) machinery at every level to be prepared to support and cooperate with the BN machinery in the Nenggiri by-election campaign," he said in a statement today.
Yesterday, Mohd Azmawi Fikri, who is also Kelantan UMNO Youth chief, was announced as the BN candidate for the state by-election.
Kelantan State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah declared the Nenggiri seat vacant on June 19 after he was informed that its assemblyman Mohd Azizi Abu Naim had ceased to be a member of Bersatu.
The Election Commission (EC) has set polling for Aug 17, with the nomination of candidates on Aug 3 and early voting on Aug 13.
Meanwhile, Omar Mokhtar said Harapan Youth had carried out a restructuring of the main leadership at both central and state levels to strengthen the PH youth machinery, including appointing DAP Youth chief Dr Kelvin Yii as the head of the movement.
