Car Washer Killed, Security Guard Injured In Attack By Men On Motorcycles

SUNGAI PETANI, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- A car washer was killed while a security guard was seriously injured with slash wounds on the head and body in an incident in Bedong, near here yesterday.

Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the car washer, in his 20s, died on the way to  Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) here.

He said the police were informed by HSAH at about 2.20 am yesterday of two local men, both in their late 20s,  brought to the hospital with slash injuries on the head and body.

"However, one of them was reported to have died on the way to the hospital," he said in a statement today.

Wan Azharuddin said a preliminary investigation found that the security guard was attacked by five men, who arrived on motorcycles and armed with machetes, at the junction to Kampung Toh Pawang.

Wan Azharuddin said after allegedly attacking the security guard, the suspects then went to a car wash premises in Taman Bedong, about 2.7 kilometres away, and attacked the car washer.

The police are investigating both cases under Section 302 of the Penal Code, he said and urged witnesses and those with information regarding the incident to contact the Kuala Muda District Police Headquarters at 04-4299222 or the Investigating Officer ASP Azmirul bin Abdul Aziz at 019-4446521.
