Selangor Focus On Player Recovery Ahead Of JDT Clash

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- Adequate recovery and rest are the focus for Selangor FC ahead of their top-of-the-table Super League clash with reigning champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium (MBPJ) this Sunday.

Selangor head coach Nidzam Jamil said attention is now on the players' availability for the match against JDT after his team defeated South Korea's Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC in their AFC Champions League 2 (ACL2) Group H match yesterday.

"My concern is about the players' availability because tonight, you can see it's not just us, even the opposing team (Jeonbuk) had players suffering cramps and injuries ... so the most important thing now is the players' recovery in the coming days.

"We will try to give our best for this weekend's match (against JDT)," he said during a press conference following Selangor's 2-1 victory over Jeonbuk at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium.

Yesterday's win allowed Selangor to take the top spot in Group H and maintain their unbeaten home record across all competitions this season.

JDT lead the table with 31 points after 11 matches while Selangor have 26 points from 12 matches.

Last August, JDT thrashed Selangor 6-1 in the FA Cup final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

The two teams were scheduled to meet in the season opener, the Charity Shield match, at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, last May, but the match was cancelled following Selangor's withdrawal, with JDT awarded a walkover victory.
