KUALA TERENGGANU, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- The flood situation in Terengganu has significantly improved, with the number of evacuees in temporary relief centres across two districts dropping from 2,579 this morning to just 29 as of 8 pm.
According to the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat (JPBNT), all evacuees in Marang have returned home as floodwaters receded.
However, 29 individuals from six families remain at the Padang Kemunting community hall relief centre in Kemaman.
JPBNT said better weather conditions, with cloudy skies and no heavy rain today, allowed floodwaters to subside, enabling many residents to return home.
Meanwhile, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage's Public InfoBanjir portal, https://publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my/?lang=en, shows that water levels at Sungai Nerus in Kampung Langkap and Kampung Bukit, Setiu have exceeded the warning level.
Besides this, Sungai Tumpat in Kampung Baru Kemasik, Kemaman, and Sungai Chalok at the Chalok bridge in Setiu remain at alert levels.
