KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 (Bernama) -- The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) is strengthening its corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment through the PTPTN Ziarah Kasih Programme, aimed at assisting asnaf (tithe recipient) groups while fostering closer ties with the community.
Through the programme, PTPTN presented contributions to an outstanding Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2025 student who scored 8As, Nur Surfina Arissa Shukri Abdullah, at her home in Bandar Tasek Mutiara, Simpang Ampat, Penang.
In a statement, PTPTN said the contribution was delivered by its chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim, with Senior General Manager of the Corporate Communications and Marketing Department Wan Zawiah Wan Abu Bakar and Penang State PTPTN director Muhammad Muhsin Abdul Rahman also present.
Nur Surfina is an only child who recently lost her mother, the late Suriati Dollah, on March 16, three days before Aidilfitri, due to cancer.
Norliza said PTPTN channelled a contribution of RM1,000 in the form of a Simpan SSPN Prime account to help ease the student’s financial burden in preparing to pursue higher education.
“Losing a mother is undoubtedly a deeply impactful experience and a major challenge in continuing life and pursuing one’s ambitions.
“PTPTN hopes this contribution will serve as a catalyst of encouragement for her to keep moving forward towards a brighter future,” she said.
According to the statement, Simpan SSPN offers various benefits, including income tax relief of up to RM8,000 annually, free takaful protection, a matching grant of up to RM10,000 for eligible families, competitive dividend rates, as well as government guarantee and Shariah compliance.
In Budget 2025, the government also expanded the criteria for the Matching Grant through the Ihsan Matching Grant Initiative (GAPAI) to families earning above RM4,000 up to RM6,000 for a period of two years.
Additionally, Simpan SSPN Plus offers six savings packages ranging from RM30 to RM500 per month, with takaful protection benefits of up to RM1.2 million and death benefits for depositors and their families, subject to stipulated terms.
