HULU LANGAT, April 18 (Bernama) -- Infrastructure upgrades in Kampung Kuala Pangsun under the Kampung Angkat MADANI (MADANI Adopted Village) initiative are expected to bring lasting benefits to residents while boosting community and local economic activities.
Village chief Mohamad Hanafiah Hussin said residents’ commitment was vital to ensure facilities provided by the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) were well maintained and fully utilised.
“I hope these facilities will be cared for responsibly. We should not only maintain them, but continue improving them through the cooperation of residents,” he told reporters at the handover ceremony for completed projects under the initiative here today.
Also present was JPM Senior Deputy Secretary-General (TKSUK) Datuk Abd Shukor Mahmood.
Mohamad Hanafiah said the village was now in a much better condition, with upgraded facilities benefiting the wider community.
He said Kampung Kuala Pangsun, home to about 500 to 600 residents including the Orang Asli Temuan community, had also seen improvements to public amenities previously damaged by weather.
The facilities could also serve as centres for community activities, encouraging youths to take part in healthier pursuits, he added.
Mohamad Hanafiah said the village also had tourism potential due to its natural attractions, including rivers and mountainous areas.
“Visitors come every week from various communities, including some from outside the state, because of the uniqueness of this village,” he said.
Meanwhile, Abd Shukor said the project involved upgrades to roads, a futsal court and the community hall to support residents’ wellbeing.
He said a quick-win approach was adopted to ensure benefits could be delivered within a short period.
“The allocation for this project is RM1 million, while other small-scale projects are implemented under separate allocations with a focus on fast results that can be used immediately by residents,” he said.
