Three PERKESO Contributors In Perak Eligible For Benefits Under "Lindung 24 Jam" Scheme

IPOH, June 13 (Bernama) -- Three Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) contributors in Perak who were involved in off-the-job accidents have been confirmed eligible to receive medical treatment assistance and income replacement under the LINDUNG 24 Jam (24-Hour Protection) Scheme.

PERKESO said that all the victims were involved in separate incidents, including road traffic accidents and domestic mishaps during their days off, which proves the importance of the 24-hour protection provided to workers under Act 4 (LINDUNG PEKERJA) since it came into effect on June 1.

The organisation noted that the first case involved Chen Chee Ling, 51, who works as a runner at an used car company. He suffered a fractured right wrist after slipping at an eatery in Manjung on June 1 while out for breakfast with his family during a public holiday.

"A review confirmed that he is an active contributor under the Employees' Social Security Act 1969 and is eligible to receive Temporary Disablement Benefit (FHUS)," PERKESO said in a statement today.

The organisation explained that Chen received medical treatment at Seri Manjung Hospital and will receive income replacement payments for the entire duration of his medical leave from June 1 to June 16, 2026, in addition to undergoing several follow-up treatment sessions.

PERKESO stated that the second case involved Nor Izzati Mohd Fazil, 27, from Bota, who suffered a fractured right hand, a laceration on her eyebrow, and burns on the sole of her foot after the motorcycle she was riding struck a buffalo at 1:30 am on June 4 while on her way home from Ipoh.

According to the statement, Nor Izzati was referred to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) here to undergo an implant surgery worth RM2,700 on June 11. Following the treatment, she was confirmed eligible to receive FHUS benefits under the LINDUNG 24 Jam scheme.

Meanwhile, PERKESO also shared that a construction company assistant, Ishvinder Singh Reginder Singh, 31, received the same benefits after his motorcycle skidded due to a sandy and slippery road along Jalan Silibin here on June 8.

"The incident occurred while he was returning home from a wedding, resulting in a fractured left leg as well as injuries to his face, hand, and shoulder.

"Even though he had only been working since May 1, checks confirmed that he is eligible for protection under LINDUNG 24 Jam and was scheduled to undergo surgery at HRPB on June 12 (yesterday)," the statement added.

Meanwhile, PERKESO clarified that even though LINDUNG 24 Jam was introduced less than two weeks ago, the organisation has already received various reports of non-work-related accidents.

The organisation stated that this directly proves social protection should not be limited to working hours only, as misfortunes can happen in the blink of an eye during recreational time or holidays.

"Therefore, comprehensive protection like LINDUNG 24 Jam is extremely crucial to prevent workers from facing financial hardships when disaster strikes," the statement said.

The LINDUNG 24 Jam scheme is PERKESO's latest initiative to provide continuous protection to workers in Malaysia. Through this social safety net, contributors affected by off-the-job incidents are still assisted to sustain their livelihoods and undergo a smooth recovery process.
