National Sprinter Zaidatul Withdraws From Malaysia Open Due To Pregnancy

KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 (Bernama) -- National women's sprinter Zaidatul Husniah Zulkifli has been confirmed to be sitting out of the Malaysia Open Athletics Championship, scheduled to take place at the UPM Stadium in Serdang from June 19 to 21.

The development was announced by Malaysia Athletics (MA) via a Facebook post today, informing that the national sprint queen decided to withdraw from the championships after confirming her pregnancy.

"Congratulations to national sprint queen Zaidatul Husniah Zulkifli and her beloved husband, Muhamad Firdaus Mazalan, on this deeply meaningful blessing. It is understood that the pregnancy is now entering its third month.

“Following this joyful news, Zaidatul will not be competing in the Malaysia Open Athletics Championships 2026," said MA in the statement.

In the same post, MA also extended their congratulations and prayers to Zaidatul and her family on the happy news.

“May Allah SWT continue to grant good health to Zaidatul and the unborn baby, ease every matter throughout the pregnancy, and keep them protected until the long-awaited moment of birth.

Enjoy this beautiful phase as an expectant mother. Malaysia will always pray for the best for Zaidatul and her family, and we look forward to your return to the track when the time comes," the post added.

For the record, Zaidatul, who holds the national 100-meter (m) record, is the defending champion for both the 100m and 200m events at the Malaysia Open Athletics Championships.
