The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) in a joint statement said TGS 2024 hosted a record-high number of 274,739 visitors, 985 companies and organisations from 44 countries and regions.

The pavilion, held from Sept 26 to 29, 2024 featured 10 leading Malaysian gaming studios specialising in game development and visual effects (VFX).

"MDEC remains committed to supporting this sector by nurturing local talent, fostering innovation, and promoting original intellectual properties to establish a robust gaming ecosystem.

"This effort positions Malaysia as a key player in the global gaming market, enhancing the country’s digital economy and cultural identity," said the statement.

MDEC head of digital transformation division, Datuk Fadzli Abdul Wahit said Malaysia showcased its dynamic digital creative industry, especially in gaming, where talented developers are crafting unique stories that resonate globally.

"This event underscores our dedication to fostering creativity and innovation on the global stage. We would like to thank MATRADE for the support throughout the event," he said.

MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said Malaysia’s participation at the TGS positions local industry players at the forefront of the global gaming landscape, showcasing their innovative products and creative capabilities to an international audience.

"As we set our sights on World Expo Osaka 2025, our presence at TGS not only builds momentum but also strengthens Malaysia’s position as a hub of innovation and creativity in the global creative content industry.

"This high-impact initiative is expected to contribute to Malaysia’s digital content exports by eight per cent growth rate, a target set under the MyDigital Blueprint and the 12th Malaysia Plan," he said.
