LHDN Strengthens Innovation And Integrity As Pillars In Tax Administration

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN) continues to strengthen its culture of innovation and integrity as a foundation in tax administration, aiming to create a transparent, fair and corruption-free environment, thereby contributing to the nation’s prosperity and stability.

LHDN, in a statement, announced that the Innovation and Integrity Day 2024 (HII 2024) celebration was held today to inspire a spirit of innovation and integrity among LHDN staff.

According to LHDN, the celebration aligns with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI, which emphasises pillars of justice, integrity and good governance practices.

“In addition, it incorporates the element of creativity as one of the six pillars driving the creation of creative and innovative ideas to ensure that LHDN remains a trusted, respected, and reliable administrator of the country’s direct taxes,” the statement said.

Treasury secretary-general Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican, in his opening speech, congratulated LHDN for its ongoing efforts to uphold innovation and integrity in carrying out its responsibilities.

He said reforms introduced by the government through administrative and economic innovation has shown positive changes, with the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rate rising, the economy continuing to grow at a rate of 4.5 to 5.5 per cent in 2025, and the fiscal deficit for 2025 targeted at 3.8 per cent, indicating a potential improvement from 4.3 per cent in 2024.

He therefore called for LHDN’s professional commitment towards achieving higher goals, making innovation and integrity the driving forces for enhanced operations for the nation’s economic well-being and the people’s sustainability.

In the same statement, Chief Executive Officer Datuk Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin also urged LHDN to continue exploring and integrating elements of innovation and integrity, which will pave the way for sustained excellence.

Abu Tariq added that LHDN will remain committed, transparent and fair in building an efficient and effective tax system to ensure its benefits are maximised for all.

In conjunction with the HII 2024 celebration, four new products encompassing technology and professional services were launched; STAMPS Genius Payment, Digital Administration: Salary and Allowance Module, HASiL EA – LHDN Corporate Plan Monitoring, and the Interactive Tax Audit Compliance Dashboard.
