KOTA KINABALU, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- Phase two of the National Digital Network (JENDELA) project is set to be rolled out next year but the contractor's performance in phase one in Sabah leaves much to be desired, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
Thus, he has instructed the state Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (MOSTI) to closely monitor the installation of telecommunication towers under phase one of the JENDELA project in Sabah.
“The state MOSTI and MCMC (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission) must ensure works are completed according to schedule. The state government would not be hesitant to take action if there is no improvement in the project's performance,” he said.
He said this in a statement after his working visit to the state MOSTI at Wisma Bandaraya here today.
During the visit, Hajiji was briefed by MCMC that only 217 of the 382 towers or 57 per cent under phase one of the JENDELA project have been completed in Sabah.
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, who is also state Local Government and Housing Minister; Sabah Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Ariffin Mohd Arif; and Sabah Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
