ARAU, Feb 17 (Bernama) -- The 2025/2026 school academic year for Group B states which begins today is most meaningful for pair of non-identical twins Haura Aaisyah Hasanuddin and her sister Haura Awleeya who are Year One students at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Jelempok here.
According to their mother Hazwani Izzati Harun, 31, they were so excited to go to school that they went to bed early last night to ensure they are up and running for the adventure of their first day this morning.
Hazwani Izzati said it was an even more exciting coincidence that both her daughters will be in the same class and sit at desks next to each at school.
“They went to kindergarten together and were even in the same class. Today is a new experience for them because the bigger atmosphere with more students can be overwhelming. I also attended this school from 2001 to 2006," she said at the school today.
Hazwani Izzati, who lives in Guar Sanji here and has another three-year-old son, said Haura Aaisyah is quiet by nature while Haura Awleeya is cheerful and outgoing and hopes that both girls will enjoy their first big step to new knowledge, friendships and camaraderie in class.
Meanwhile, Perlis Education Department director Rose Aza Che Arifin said a total of 46,944 secondary and primary students were recorded in Perlis for the new school session and of that total, 19,962 are secondary students while 26,982 are in primary school.
