KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 (Bernama) -- Maxis and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) have entered into a strategic partnership to advance intelligent network operations through Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).

According to a statement from Maxis, the partnership aims to accelerate the company’s digital transformation by integrating intelligent, self-optimising network technologies to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.

The collaboration was formalised today at the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), in the presence of Communications Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching, Maxis Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Goh Seow Eng, and Huawei Malaysia CEO Simon Sun, who represented their respective organisations.

“As part of the collaboration, Maxis and Huawei will embark on a comprehensive joint project to further integrate AI and ML technologies into Maxis’ network operations.

“Maxis, which already leverages AI in its operations, will seek to explore more opportunities to enhance customers' network experience through AI/ML-powered service quality monitoring, automated network optimisation, and predictive issue detection and fast resolution,” according to the statement.

Maxis also said the collaboration will help the company establish an Intelligent Network Operations Centre (NOC) through AI-driven automation, reducing manual processes, improving quality assurance, and operational efficiencies.

Meanwhile, Goh emphasised the company's commitment to AI-driven digital transformation, stating that the collaboration reflects its ongoing digitalisation towards seamless, real-time, and intelligent network operations.

“By expanding the use of AI and ML in our self-optimising network, we can further simplify processes, improve network experience, and explore innovative new solutions. We will continue to be smart users of AI, leveraging its capabilities to better serve our customers and drive operational excellence," he stated.

Sun, on the other hand, highlighted the company's AI expertise in network operations, stating that Huawei has increased its efforts to research and apply artificial intelligence technology in network operation, optimisation, and services.

“We are committed to supporting Maxis in building an efficient, reliable, and intelligent network. Beyond enhancing operations with AI and ML, we will also integrate intelligent network management with agile business operations for Maxis, enabling the unlocking of new revenue streams, the acceleration of service innovation, and enhanced value to customers,” he said.

The collaboration builds on Maxis and Huawei's long-standing partnership to accelerate network innovation and reinforces their shared vision of driving digital transformation, including in next-generation communications technologies.
