Seremban 2 Hockey Stadium Upgrade Project To Start in May - KBS

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 24 (Bernama) -- The project to upgrade the Haji Mohd Said Hockey Stadium, Seremban 2 in Negeri Sembilan is expected to commence in May, but is subject to the tender evaluation process and the appointment of a contractor.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) in a statement today announced that the project has been tendered on Dec 24, 2025, with the tender advertisement expected to close on Feb 12.

“This project has experienced some delays due to the need to go through several coordination processes involving various stakeholders.

“Among the processes that need to be completed are land surveying, specification amendments and finalisation of the concept design which requires confirmation from the customer before the tender can be implemented,” according to the statement.

KBS stressed that all of these matters must also be in line with the approved budget ceiling.

According to KBS, the stadium upgrade project will be implemented by the Public Works Department (JKR) as the implementing agency, while KBS will continue to monitor the progress of the project to ensure that its implementation runs smoothly and adheres to the set timeline.

“KBS hopes that when this project is completed, it will benefit the people, especially in Negeri Sembilan, and will catalyse the development of sports, especially hockey,” according to the statement.

Meanwhile, KBS stressed its commitment to continue to popularise and cultivate sports in line with the aspirations of MADANI Malaysia towards the formation of a healthy and active nation.

The media previously reported that the stadium has been closed since 2020 due to the condition of the artificial turf, underground drainage system and floodlights are dilapidated, making it unsuitable for training or matches.

In February 2024, KBS announced an allocation of RM5 million to upgrade the hockey stadium in question.
