Weekly Watch : Asean Fuel Prices

Published : 02/04/2026 10:43 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 (Bernama) -- Fuel prices across ASEAN remain uneven this week, with Malaysia recording among the lowest retail rates for both petrol and diesel, supported by subsidy mechanisms and administered pricing.

Singapore continues to register the highest fuel prices in the region due to its market-based system and higher taxation.

In Brunei, fuel prices remain significantly lower than those of most ASEAN peers, underpinned by its status as an oil-producing country with long-standing domestic subsidy policies.

Other ASEAN member states generally adopt mixed pricing frameworks, ranging from managed subsidy systems and partial price controls to more market-linked or import cost pass-through mechanisms, contributing to varying retail fuel levels amid continued global oil market pressures, according to data compiled from official and industry sources as of April 1, 2026.

In Timor-Leste, fuel prices are subject to government-imposed caps aimed at stabilising retail costs amid global oil market volatility.

In some countries, prices highlighted are mostly in the capital cities. However, there are slight variations in remote areas.

A comparative table of retail RON95 and diesel fuel prices across ASEAN in Ringgit Malaysia (RM) per litre is set out below.
