KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 (Bernama) -- A total of 18 heads of households (KIR) affected by the fire in Kampung Gumpa, Kudat in Sabah on April 16 have received initial assistance in the form of a cash donation of RM1,000 along with kitchen necessities.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said the aid was channelled on behalf of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as a manifestation of the MADANI government's concern for the plight of the people affected by the disaster.
"No citizen should be left alone when facing a disaster. In Kampung Gumpa, Kudat, 18 heads of households were affected by a fire that destroyed eight houses. This incident has a significant impact on the lives of the affected families and requires attention.
"May all matters for the victims be eased and may they be given the strength to rise again," he said in a Facebook post today.
He said that appreciation was also given to all parties including government agencies, security forces, and local community leaders who have been assisting the victims since the first day of the incident.
Meanwhile, he also reminded the public to always be vigilant, especially in the current hot weather, to prevent the recurrence of fire incidents.
