Negeri Sembilan Political Turmoil Not Affecting Federal Ties, Administration - Fahmi

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- The ongoing administrative and political turmoil in Negeri Sembilan has not affected relations among parties within the Unity Government at the federal level, said Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

The Communications Minister, who is also the Government spokesperson, said the turmoil, among others involving Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) at the state level, has also not disrupted the federal administration.

“At this point, the situation has no impact on the federal level. This may be something unique to Negeri Sembilan, but we are, of course, closely monitoring what is happening.

“We are also aware that Negeri Sembilan PH has made an announcement yesterday, and at the federal level, I believe the leadership will decide on the way forward,” he told reporters after officiating the Asia Pacific Online Safety Dialogue 2026 today.

Also present was Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching.

Elaborating, Fahmi said the upcoming PH Convention 2026 in Johor on May 17 will provide a key platform for party leaders to hear grassroots views at the state level.

“From there, we can discuss the next course of action for the PH leadership,” he said.

Yesterday, all 14 UMNO and BN assemblymen in Negeri Sembilan unanimously announced they had lost confidence in and withdrawn support for the state government led by Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has since clarified that Aminuddin will continue to carry out his duties as Menteri Besar as decreed by Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
