Entries For KPKT Media Excellence Awards 2026 Open Till Aug 5

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- Full-time or part-time journalists and media practitioners, stringers as well as freelance reporters can now submit entries for the Housing and Local Government Ministry’s (KPKT) Media Excellence Awards (AkeMedia) 2026, which will be held this October.

The ministry added that the submission deadline is August 5, with entries open to works published between September 1, 2025 and July 31, 2026.

“The submitted works should focus on KPKT’s roles, including housing, local authorities, ‘red heroes’ (firefighters), urban sustainability, smart cities, solid waste management, landscaping, community credit, as well as the scope of duties and roles of departments and agencies under KPKT.

“Entries are open to works in Malay, English, Chinese, and Tamil. There is no entry fee and no limit on submissions,” the ministry said in a statement today.

A total of eight categories are being contested: Special Award by the Minister, Best Television Broadcast Award, Best Video Portal/Online Award, Best Radio Broadcast Award, Best Article Publication Award, Best Photojournalism Award, Best Social Media Award, and Best Influencer Award.

The Special Award by the Minister offers a prize of RM10,000 along with a trophy and certificate to two recipients, while the other seven categories each offer RM3,000 for first place, RM2,000 for second place, and RM1,000 for third place, along with a trophy and certificate.
