KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 (Bernama) -- Nervousness was the reason for the national women's doubles, Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting's early exit in the first round of the 2026 Malaysia Masters tournament.
In the action that took place at Unifi Arena, here today, the seventh seeds of the tournament lost unexpectedly to the Taiwanese pair of Hsieh Yi En-Teng Chun Hsun 15-21, 20-22 in 39 minutes.
"I think there was a bit of nervousness today. Thinking too much and wanting to win the match so much.
"Because of that, our game didn't work out," said Carmen when met after the match today.
Also eliminated was another national women's pair, Chong Jie Yu-Vanessa Ng, who also lost to Taiwanese pair Chen Yan Fei-Sun Liang Ching 16-21, 17-21 in 33 minutes.
Malaysia’s campaign in the women's doubles event will be carried by the national young pair Low Zi Yu-Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan and Cheng Su Hui-Tan Zhing Hui.
Zi Yu-Noraqilah Maisarah will meet Bao Li Jing-Cao Zi Han of China while Su Hui-Zhi Hui will face fifth seeds from Japan, Arisa Igarashi-Kie Nakanishi in the first round tomorrow.
