BATU PAHAT, June 26 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan (PH) will strengthen its campaign strategy for the 16th Johor State Election by combining grassroots engagement with social media platforms as campaigning officially begins tomorrow.
PH Communications director Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the approach is vital to ensure the coalition’s messages and policy proposals reach all segments of society effectively.
He said PKR, which is contesting 20 seats, will immediately begin campaign activities after the nomination process concludes tomorrow morning.
“Tomorrow morning, I will personally head to Semerah, while (PKR deputy president) Nurul Izzah Anwar will accompany (Senggarang candidate) Onn Abu Bakar at the Senggarang nomination centre. We have also established an official media group to disseminate information regarding PH candidates rapidly,” he told a press conference after the Hasrat MADANI programme today.
Fahmi, who is also Minister of Communications, said PH’s campaign would emphasise fact-based communication to ensure voters receive accurate information throughout the election period.
On development, he said cooperation between the federal government and the state administration has proven to be a catalyst for the implementation of high-impact projects in Johor, including the Rapid Transit System Link and the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, which he said could stimulate economic growth and reduce development disparities between districts.
He added that PH’s governance track record in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang demonstrated the coalition’s capability to deliver results.
“PH’s capabilities are not merely rhetoric but have been proven in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang. With figures such as Dr Maszlee Malik in Puteri Wangsa and Onn Abu Bakar in Senggarang, we are confident we can bring change to Johor,” he said.
Fahmi also confirmed that PH would unveil a dedicated manifesto for the Johor state election in due course.
In a related development, he said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has formed a special task force together with the Election Commission, the Royal Malaysia Police and the Malaysian Media Council to monitor and curb the spread of misinformation throughout the election period.
Earlier, Fahmi spent time engaging with residents in Senggarang and attended a “wayang pacak” screening of the film Blood Brothers as part of the programme.
