KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) are willing to offer national professional women's doubles player Ng Qi Xuan to undergo rehabilitation treatment at Akademi Badminton Malaysia (ABM) for the knee injury she suffered at the recently-concluded Malaysia Super 100 badminton tournament.

BAM secretary-general Datuk Kenny Goh said although the 25-year-old is an independent shuttler, she is still a Malaysian player and used to be under the national governing body.

"Yes, we did have an internal discussion to discuss how we can help her. We are ready if she wants to do rehab, but perhaps she can do it at ABM.

"I have also discussed with Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh (and she) has also offered to help as much as possible,” he told reporters after the Malaysia Super 100 ended at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara yesterday.

Asked if Qi Xuan needs to undergo surgery, Kenny said he hasn't received any confirmation regarding the matter but added that Qi Xuan is still hospitalised and the BAM planned to visit her soon.

Qi Xuan is reported to have dislocated her knee when trying to return a smash, resulting in her and her partner Yap Rui Chen having to concede defeat when they were just one point away from victory.

Qi Xuan-Rui Chen were leading 22-20, 20-18 against BAM's Teoh Mei Xing-Go Pei Kee in the semi-finals when the unfortunate incident occurred.
