JAKARTA, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- Indonesia’s Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto has emphasised the importance of knowledge transfer and capacity development during a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Yasar Guler, on Thursday.
According to the Indonesian Defence Ministry, the proposed initiatives include large-scale scholarships for Indonesian students in Turkiye, short courses on defence industry programmes, and the establishment of Turkish language programmes at Indonesian universities.
Prabowo also expressed hope that the bilateral defence relationship between the two countries will positively impact the national interests of Indonesia and Turkiye, as well as regional security stability, the ministry stated in a statement on Friday.
It noted that Turkiye has been a key partner for Indonesia in defence cooperation, demonstrated by the signing of a defence industry cooperation agreement in 2010, followed by Defence Industry Cooperation Meetings starting in 2012.
