CAMBODIA

1. INDONESIA PRESIDENT ELECT PRABOWO VISITS CAMBODIA -- FRESH NEWS

Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto is visiting Cambodia to improve bilateral ties between the ASEAN member states. Subianto, who arrived on Friday will hold high-level talks with Cambodian leaders, including paying a courtesy call to former Prime Minister Hun Sen.

 

2. ORCHID CULTIVATION FOR INCOME GENERATION -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESS

Cambodia, with about 500 orchid species, is moving into commercial-scale cultivation to tap its economic potential. The Sok An Phnom Kulen Research and Conservation Centre on 2,000 hectares was established in Siem Reap to expand orchid breeding and research activities.

 

INDONESIA 

1.EDUCATION PLAN RAISES CUTBACK CONCERNS -- THE JAKARTA POST

The Finance Ministry has proposed changing the mandatory education budget from 20 per cent of state expenditure to 20 per cent of state revenue, raising concerns among experts that the new mechanism would cut funding overall for solving the perennial problems plaguing national education system.

 

MYANMAR

1. MYANMAR-INDIA COOPERATE TO ENHANCE POWER SECTOR -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Myanmar and India held their fifth electricity sector committee meeting in the capital Nay Pyi Taw to discuss improving the sector and providing power to remote areas. Both countries have signed a memorandum of understanding to improve the energy sector. 

 

2. REAL ESTATE PLAYERS IN MALAYSIA FOR CONFERENCE -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

A delegation from the Myanmar Real Estate Services Association is attending the International Real Estate Conference 2024 that is being held in Kuala Lumpur from 6 to 8 September. The event features contributions from ASEAN countries and focuses on sharing the latest technologies and professional skills.

1. 7 injured, including 1 hospitalised, as Singapore-Guangzhou Scoot flight hits turbulence --THE STRAITS TIMES

Seven people were injured when a Scoot flight from Singapore to the Chinese city of Guangzhou hit turbulence on the morning of Sept 6. One person was taken to hospital.

 

2. 7 injured after turbulence hits Scoot flight from Singapore to Guangzhou -- CNA

Four passengers and three crew members were injured after a Scoot flight that was en route from Singapore to Guangzhou, China, encountered turbulence on Friday (Sep 6) morning.

Thailand will have to work hard to win semiconductor manufacturers as it goes head-to-head with Vietnam and Singapore in the privileges game.

The majority of Thais are willing to pay more to support local brands, as more than 90% feel proud seeing Thai brands in the international market, according to a survey by VML Thailand, a marketing and communications agency.
