1. CAMBODIA WANTS GLOBAL SUPPORT FOR MINE CLEARANCE --  FRESH NEWS

Cambodia urges the global community to support the Ottawa Convention to increase international participation in clearing land mines. It will host the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on Mine-Free World in           November this year, where the Siem Reap-Angkor Action Plan 2025-2029 will be adopted.  

 

2. ASEAN-BAC AND CAMBODIA HOLD DISCUSSION -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call from the ASEAN Business Advisory Council Chairman Tan Sri Nazir Razak on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit in Vientiane. Nazir said Cambodia despite being a small country has high growth potential, especially in the tourism sector.

President-elect Prabowo Subianto hinted on Wednesday that several ministers from President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's administration will be part of his new cabinet, which will be announced following his inauguration on October 20.

1. ASEAN TOURISM MEETING TO DEVELOP SECTOR -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF  MYANMAR

Myanmar is hosting the 18th Meeting of the ASEAN Tourism Competitiveness Committee in Yangon from 9 to 11 October, which will focus on promoting human resources and skill standardisation and explore ways to develop the tourism industry in ASEAN countries.

 

2. CLAMPING DOWN RISING ILLEGAL TRADE -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Border authorities are tightening security to stem the entry of illegal goods that are hurting the economy and local businesses. The government is concerned that poultry products imported illegally can lead to disease transmission that could impact the agriculture and livestock breeding industries.

The city government has endorsed Sumitomo Corporation’s RM17.7  billion (US$4.2 billion ) smart city project to transform Hanoi into a vibrant capital. Located along the Nhat Tan—Noi Bai development axis of Hanoi, the project covers 272 hectares.
