INDONESIA

1. GOV’T EXTENDS 100 PCT VAT WAIVER ON HOMES, FOREIGNERS CAN APPLY -- JAKARTA GLOBE

Indonesia has extended its full value-added tax (VAT) incentive on residential property purchases until the end of 2025, in a bid to sustain household demand and support economic growth.

 

2. PROTESTS BREAK OUT AGAINST LAWMAKERS’ EXCESSIVE SALARIES -- THE JAKARTA POST

Hundreds of people marched in the streets around the House of Representatives complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday in protest at lawmakers’ excessive salaries and rampant corruption in the country.

1. CONTINGENCY PLANS TO PROTECT CITIZENS -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

The cabinet is working to minimise the impacts of global and regional tensions and harsh weather conditions that are fuelling economic pressure. Severe flooding has damaged infrastructure and affected citizens' livelihoods.

 

2. MEKONG EMBANKMENT ALMOST COMPLETED -- VIENTIANE TIMES

The 9.3-kilometre embankment along the Mekong River in Vientiane is almost 90 per cent completed. It is vital to prevent flooding and also serves as a new public recreational zone once completed next year.

1 . SPECIAL ZONES DESIGNATED FOR OIL CROPS -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR  

Efforts are being taken to increase the expansion of oil crop cultivation that can contribute to economic development. Special zones have been designated for groundnut, sesame and sunflower — all are major oil crops.

A low-pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon (habagat) will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms across the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Tuesday.

 

2. POLICE DISASTER RESPONSE TEAMS ON STANDBY AMID LPA IMPACT IN BICOL -- PHILIPPINE NEWS AGENCY (PNA)

The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has activated its disaster response teams as a low-pressure area (LPA) continues to bring moderate to heavy rains over the Bicol Region.

1. DDPM ALERTS POSSIBLE FLASH FLOODS, RUN-OFFS IN SEVERAL PROVINCES -- THE NATION DDPM warns of flash floods, run-offs and high tides in over 40 provinces as Typhoon Kajiki brings heavy rain and strong winds across Thailand.

 

2. RAIL STATION TO DRIVE TOURISM -- BANGKOK POST The historic Hua Hin railway station is slated for projects aimed at boosting tourism connectivity and expanding rail services, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) said.

 

VIETNAM

1. TYPHOON KAJIKI CAUSES TRAFFIC CHAOS IN HANOI -- VNEXPRESS

Hanoi is severely affected by Typhoon Kajiki, which landed in parts of Vietnam yesterday. The capital is grappling with chaotic traffic due to heavy floods and vehicles stalled in the flooded streets this morning.  

 

2. NEW STRATEGIES TO COUNTER US LEVY -- VIETNAMPLUS

Vietnamese companies are quickly adjusting their business to overcome the impact of the 20 per cent levy imposed by the United States (US) in August. They are restructuring operations, standardising production and diversifying export markets.
