Iran Executes 2 Over Alleged Links To Israeli ‘Spy Network’

20/04/2026 06:36 PM

ISTANBUL, April 20 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Iranian authorities on Monday executed two people over alleged links to a “spy network” connected to Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, Anadolu Ajansi reported, citing local broadcaster.

The suspects were found guilty of undergoing advanced training, including in secure communications, helping identify sensitive locations and producing explosive devices, Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB reported.

They were also accused of setting fires at military and public sites and sending footage of the incidents to handlers in exchange for cryptocurrency payments, according to the report.

The executions come as hundreds of Iranians have been detained on accusations of cooperating “with the enemy” since the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran, which has killed more than 3,300 people since Feb 28.

In response to the offensive, Tehran launched retaliatory strikes on Israel and other regional countries hosting US assets.

A two-week ceasefire between Washington and Tehran, mediated by Pakistan, was announced on April 8.

The sides also held talks in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, which ended without agreement on April 12, with efforts for another round of negotiations ongoing.
