Iran May Send Delegation To Islamabad If US Signal Positive – Diplomat

20/04/2026 04:46 PM

DOHA, April 20 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Iran will send a negotiating team to Islamabad for a new round of talks before the ceasefire with the United States expires, provided it receives a positive signal from Washington, the head of the Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy of the Iranian Parliament, Ebrahim Azizi, said on Monday, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

“We have never been afraid of the principle of negotiation. Perhaps today or tomorrow, after further assessment, we may consider it, provided the US negotiating team and the messages received from Iran give a positive signal,” Azizi told Al Jazeera.

On Sunday, US President Donald Trump said his representatives were heading to Islamabad for talks on Iran. US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz claimed that US-Iran negotiations would resume within the next 24 hours, but Iran's IRNA news agency later reported that Tehran had declined to take part in the second round of talks.
