SYDNEY, April 21 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Five men have been arrested over the alleged violent late-night kidnapping of a man linked to organised crime in western Sydney, reported Xinhua.
Police said on Tuesday that a man aged in his 30s was assaulted and forced into a vehicle outside a home in Guilford, 20 km west of central Sydney, at around 11:30 pm local time on Monday.
The vehicle was found partially burnt a short time later, and the victim was located by police at a home in Sydney's southwest at 12:30 am before he was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Five men who had allegedly fled the property were arrested nearby and taken to a police station.
Local media reported on Tuesday that the victim has links to an organised crime network and that the kidnapping was perpetrated by a rival network.
The same man was the target of a failed assassination attempt in June 2025, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
A police taskforce that was established in May 2025 to investigate and suppress violent incidents linked to an escalating organised crime conflict is leading the investigation into the kidnapping.
