JAKARTA, April 27 (Bernama) -- Indonesia’s extreme poverty rate declined to 0.78 per cent in September 2025 from 1.26 per cent in March 2024, said the republic’s Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar.
He said the improvement underscores the government’s commitment to accelerating the eradication of extreme poverty through stronger coordination across ministries, agencies and regional administrations.
“Alhamdulillah, extreme poverty has successfully decreased. From 1.26 per cent in March 2024 to 0.78 per cent in September 2025.
“Around 0.48 per cent of the extremely poor population, alhamdulillah, have moved up a class,” he said, according to Antara News Agency, on Monday.
Abdul Muhaimin, however, acknowledged that challenges remain and need to be addressed promptly.
“More than 774,000 families in the lowest decile have not yet been reached by programmes, especially in regions such as Kulonprogo, Garut, Bogor, Cirebon and Cianjur,” he said.
Apart from that, he said 8.1 per cent of families have yet to receive assistance, while 60.2 per cent of families in the lowest decile have only received one to two government programmes.
