NEW DELHI, May 5 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- An emergency evacuation of a flight was carried out at an airport in the northern Indian city of Chandigarh on Tuesday after a passenger's power bank caught fire on board, filling the aircraft with smoke, reported Xinhua.
The incident occurred on an IndiGo flight from Hyderabad to Chandigarh, triggering an emergency response and evacuation upon landing.
According to officials, all 198 passengers and six crew members were evacuated using sliders.
"All customers have been safely moved to the terminal," IndiGo Airlines said in a statement.
Reports said the smoke spread throughout the cabin as the flight arrived at the bay, and the crew responded swiftly with a fire extinguisher to contain the blaze.
