LONDON, June 9 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- A fire near London Bridge railway station disrupted rail services in the British capital on Monday evening, with some lines blocked and trains cancelled, revised or diverted, according to rail operators, reported Xinhua.
Emergency services were dealing with a fire on the property next to the railway near London Bridge, state-owned British train operating company Southeastern said on its website. Trains could not operate safely until the area had been assessed and declared safe.
Commuter rail service provider Thameslink said no trains could run between London Bridge and Dartford until further notice, advising passengers to use alternative routes and allow at least an additional 30 minutes for their journeys.
Southeastern said some trains were being diverted to London Victoria, while services on the Hastings line would start or terminate at Tonbridge. Passengers were allowed to use several alternative rail and public transport services at no extra cost.
Details about the cause of the fire and possible casualties were not immediately available.
