SESB Implements Gas Turbine Generator Installation To Boost Sabah's Grid Reserve
KOTA KINABALU, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) will undertake the supply and installation of gas turbine generators in Kimanis, with the project expected to be completed by June next year, said its CEO, Mohd Yaakob Jaafar.
He said that the gas-based power plant project aims to increase the reserve generation capacity of the Sabah Grid.
According to him, SESB has received a letter of notification (LoN) from the Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) for the supply and installation of gas turbine generators with a capacity of 94 Megawatts (MW).
"The project is also one of the short-term initiatives that need to be implemented based on the Generation Development Plan approved by the Sabah Energy Council (MTS),” he said in a statement today.
He added that the need to implement this fast-track project is critical to ensure sufficient generation capacity and maintain the stability of the Sabah Grid system.
The gas power station will be connected to the Sabah Grid system using the injection point at the Langsat Main Intake Substation (PMU), Kimanis.
