PUTRAJAYA, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Department of Fisheries (DOF), through the MADANI Adopted School Programme, has provided various forms of assistance that will directly benefit the staff and students of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Cyberjaya.

Its director-general, Datuk Adnan Hussain said through an allocation of RM100,000, various initiatives have been implemented, including the supply of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) LEGO sets used in teaching and learning (PdP) sessions

"This initiative also helped SMK Cyberjaya students achieve third place in the LEGOLAND® School Challenge 2025 competition in Iskandar Puteri, Johor," he said in a statement here today.

In addition to this, he said the aid will also be distributed for the provision of new examination tables and chairs in the school's examination hall, the upgrading of the teachers' activity room to create a more comfortable workspace, and the replacement of air conditioners in several key locations such as the resource room, library and teachers' room.

"All these improvements contribute to a more conducive learning environment and enhance the focus of students and teachers," he said.

Adnan said that as a symbol of the close relationship between the two organisations from different fields, the DOF also organised engagement and fisheries literacy programmes with the SMK Cyberjaya staff and students.

According to him, the programme focuses on understanding the importance of fisheries resource conservation, introducing native Malaysian fish, and the potential of the downstream fisheries industry through activities such as local fish product tasting campaigns and the Rasa-Rasa Akuakultur School Edition culinary competition.

Adnan said the approach strengthens DOF's efforts in raising public awareness of the role of the fisheries sector in ensuring national food security.

He said the implementation of the MADANI Adopted School Programme demonstrates the effectiveness of cooperation between government agencies and educational institutions in improving facilities and the learning environment in schools.

“The DOF is very pleased to be able to contribute to this effort and sees its benefits enjoyed directly by the SMK Cyberjaya community. This initiative reflects the department's ongoing commitment to supporting efforts to improve the quality of learning and the well-being of school staff," he said.

Adnan also said that the MADANI Adopted School Programme reflects DOF's concern for community development via a collaborative and direct impact approach.

This programme between the DOF and SMK Cyberjaya was held today as a token of appreciation for the successful implementation of the MADANI Adopted School Programme initiative this year.

It is a MADANI government initiative coordinated by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) to promote synergy between government agencies, the private sector, and educational institutions in empowering the quality of learning and the well-being of the school community.
