KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- Selangor FC failed to continue with their winning momentum after losing 1-0 to South Korea’s Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC in Group H of the Asian Champions League 2 (ACL2) 2024/25 at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium in South Korea tonight.
Selangor, who came into the match with two wins and a draw, found the home team a handful right from the start.
It was no surprise then when Jeonbuk, who lost the reverse fixture 2-1 to Selangor on Oct 23, took the lead in the 22nd minute, with Orobo Tiago heading home a Chang-Hoon Kwon corner kick.
The defeat sees Selangor, under interim coach Abdi Hassan, drop to second spot in Group H with seven points after four matches. Jeonbuk now top the group with nine points.
In another Group H action at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila today, visitors Muangthong United of Thailand ran riot to thrash Dynamic Herb Cebu of the Philippines 9-2.
The runaway victory sees Muangthong United in third spot in the four-team standings with five points while Cebu prop up the table with one point.
On Nov 28, Selangor will host Muangthong United at the Petaling Jaya Municipal Stadium while Cebu will travel to the Jeonju World Cup Stadium to face Jeonbuk.
