MOSCOW, Jan 17 (Bernama-TASS) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has hailed the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership treaty between Russia and Iran, stating that it will enhance cooperation across all sectors.
Speaking at a meeting with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian here, Putin emphasised its significance as a foundational document that will deepen bilateral ties.
"Your visit today is of special significance, because we have not only had the opportunity to discuss all areas of our cooperation, but we have also signed a major basic treaty between Russia and Iran on comprehensive strategic partnership," Putin said.
He noted that Moscow and Tehran had worked on the agreement for an extended period.
"I am very pleased that this work has been completed. It is important because it will create new opportunities and provide additional impetus for practically all areas of our cooperation," he added.
