Bernama Top Management Pays Courtesy Call On Shamsul Azri

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- The top management of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) today paid a courtesy call on Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar at his office in Bangunan Perdana Putra.

Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin led the delegation, comprising 10 senior officers, including Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, Acting Deputy Editor-in-Chief of News Services Mohd Shukri Ishak and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Economic News Service Azlina Aziz.

Shamsul Azri posted on his Facebook page that the visit paved the way for a meaningful discussion on the direction of Bernama as a national news agency, which plays a crucial role in delivering accurate, fast and trustworthy information to the people.

"We exchanged views regarding efforts to strengthen the delivery of news in the digital era, as well as initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the media's role in supporting the national development agenda,” he said.

Earlier, Nur-ul Afida signed the visitors’ book and held a nearly 30-minute meeting with Shamsul Azri, which, among others, touched on the services provided by Bernama as an agency under the Communications Ministry.

Speaking to Bernama after the meeting, Nur-ul Afida said it opened up opportunities for various strategic discussions, including a proposal to expand the journalism courses and training offered by the Bernama School of Journalism to the diploma level.

"We took this opportunity to give a briefing about Bernama and its role, including its latest products and services, such as the Bernama Mobile Studio, which uses a motorhome to provide live coverage and broadcasts.

"We also shared about the commercial services as well as Bernama's efforts to generate income… Alhamdulillah, he also shared his views and suggestions on how Bernama can further expand its services nationwide,” she said.

She also views the meeting with Shamsul Azri as paving the way for closer collaboration between Bernama and various ministries and other government agencies in an effort to expand the reach and effectiveness of government communication to the people.
