Exists, Bunkface, Masdo Set To Ignite RIUH Pi HAWANA Carnival In Penang

KUALA LUMPUR, June 17 (Bernama) -- Nostalgia, high-energy performances and retro rhythms are set to take centre stage as Exists, Bunkface and Masdo unite for the RIUH Pi HAWANA Carnival at the PICCA Convention Centre Parking Lot @ Butterworth Arena, Penang from June 19 to 21.

Organised by MyCreative Ventures in conjunction with the National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2026, the three-day carnival promises a vibrant celebration of music, arts, culture, food and community engagement in a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere.

The carnival will run from 8.30 pm to midnight on Friday, while activities on Saturday and Sunday will take place from 3 pm until midnight.

In addition to the headline acts, visitors can look forward to performances by a diverse lineup of local talents including Chelsea Ng, Sakura Band, Fugo, Saint Kylo, Lucidrari and Budak Nakal Hujung Simpang, who will entertain crowds throughout the event.

Exists will open the musical showcase on June 19, followed by Bunkface on June 20, while Masdo will bring the curtain down with the closing performance on June 21.

The programme is expected to attract about 30,000 visitors and will feature local brands, food and beverage vendors, as well as a range of interactive workshops designed to encourage public participation in creative activities.

Among the featured workshops are cyanotype printmaking, lumen printing using silver, stone seal carving, zine-making sessions, Nyonya beading experiences and Boria heritage exploration activities that reflect Penang’s rich cultural diversity.

The HAWANA 2026 Summit, scheduled to be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on June 20, is expected to gather around 1,000 media practitioners from Malaysia and abroad.

Carrying the theme “Media Integrity strengthens Credibility”, HAWANA 2026, organised by the Ministry of Communications with the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) serving as the implementing agency, stands as a key platform to recognise the contributions, dedication and professionalism of media practitioners in the country.
