04/07/2024 10:42 PM

KUANTAN, July 4 (Bernama) — The Kuantan District Police Headquarters will deploy all officers and personnel to ensure smooth operations and public safety during the MADANI Rakyat 2024 East Zone Programme, which will take place at Dataran Sayangi Kuantan here for three days starting tomorrow.

Kuantan police chief ACP Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said that a total of 376 officers and police personnel, including auxiliary personnel from outside the Kuantan district, have been assigned for this purpose.

“PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) of the Kuantan district has been tasked with the Safety and Traffic Committee for the MADANI Rakyat 2024 East Zone Programme to ensure public safety and order throughout the programme.

“For this purpose, we have also mobilised the Kuantan Police Criminal Investigation Department to ensure that no crimes occur during the programme," he said in an interview on Pahang FM today.

On traffic flow given that the programme will be held at Dataran Sayangi Kuantan and Kuantan City Council (MBK) Field 4, which are the main routes to the city, he said the police would close and divert several roads around the programme venue.

He said among the roads involved in the closures and diversions are Kalan Mat Kilau, Jalan Tanah Putih, and Jalan Kemunting starting from tomorrow until Sunday.

“The closure for Jalan Kemunting will be selective, allowing only neighbourhood residents' vehicles to enter. Besides that, for the Kuantan City Half Marathon event, which will start on Sunday morning, road closures will be carried out intermittently on the main routes starting at 4 am.

“The roads involved include Jalan Tanah Putih, Jambatan Putra, the Tanjung Lumpur Bridge, and Jalan Besar. These road closures will be done intermittently, and we will also ensure that traffic personnel are stationed at locations expected to experience traffic congestion,” he said.

Wan Mohd Zahari said further information regarding the road closures and diversions for the MADANI Rakyat East Zone Programme is available on the Kuantan Police Facebook page, and he also advised visitors to use the shuttle bus service.

He said for this purpose, several public car parks have been provided to facilitate visitors, including Darul Makmur Stadium, Medan Warisan, Serambi Teruntum, Taman Kerang and Taman Esplanade Kuantan.

“At these public car park locations, there will be a shuttle bus service. We advise using the shuttle bus as it will make it easier for visitors to get there,” he said.

According to the Malaysia MADANI Facebook page, the shuttle bus service will operate from 6 am until 11 pm starting tomorrow at the Kuantan city hub - Darul Makmur Stadium and Urban Transformation Centre (UTC), Kuantan City Mall, East Coast Mall and State Mosque.

Additionally, the service will cover the Kuantan General Hospital, the Inland Revenue Board, Kuantan Parade and Jalan Bukit Ubi.

The MADANI Rakyat East Zone 2024 Programme is scheduled to be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on July 6.

Besides the government’s efforts to provide direct services to the people, the programme aims to create a continuous communication channel between the community and the government, thus strengthening relations in the effort to build a more prosperous nation in line with the Malaysia MADANI agenda.
