UMNO Proposes Full Implementation Of Ulul Albab Programme At SRA, SMA And SMKA

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- UMNO today proposed for full implementation of the Ulul Albab programme at all government-aided primary and secondary religious schools or SRA, SMA and SMKA.

Deputy Prime Minister cum UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this is to empower the agenda of producing a future generation with a strong identity.

“This is also to ensure the continuation of Al-Quran education that we introduced at the kindergarten level,” he said in his policy speech at the 2024 UMNO General Assembly here today.

Ulul Albab programme is a special educational programme based on the integration between the existing programme (science streaming) and the religious school programme including Tahfiz Al-Quran.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, said he had also instructed MARA chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki to implement the Ulul Albab programme in all MARA Junior Science Colleges (MRSM).

He said the main objective was to ensure that all 57 MRSM with a student capacity of 37,000 people, will produce a generation that has religious strength and stability based on Al-Quran without neglecting their educational needs and performance.

He said UMNO also proposed that MARA complete its educational ecosystem by opening its own primary schools to ensure that the agenda of developing future generations can be worked on with a robust human capital development syllabus.

In a bid to develop Islam and its future generations, Ahmad Zahid said he would also ensure that the pre-Tahfiz programme introduced last year would be implemented in stages at 9,600 Community Development Department (KEMAS) kindergartens nationwide.

He said the programme, which was initially introduced at 100 KEMAS kindergartens involving only 1,500 children, has been expanded to 4,145 KEMAS kindergartens this year, with the participation of 62,172 children.

“Our big target is to produce a total of 140,000 little huffaz (memorisers of the Quran) by 2026,” he said.

The ongoing 2024 UMNO General Assembly, which began on Wednesday, sees the participation of over 6,400 delegates from all over the country.
