Agro MADANI@Pasar Tani Kekal Carnival Records RM2.5 Million In Sales

JITRA, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- The Agro MADANI@Pasar Tani Kekal Carnival organized by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) recorded RM2.5 million in sales, surpassing its RM2 million target.

FAMA director-general Abdul Rashid Bahari attributed the achievement to the engaging activities during the carnival, including the ‘Kombo MADANI’ programme and discounts on goods ranging from 10 to 30 per cent below market prices.

“I hope that visitors are satisfied with the great deals we offered, such as the MADANI Kombo, which was sold for RM10 instead of RM15, and discounts of up to 30 per cent on other essential items.

“At our Happy Hour sales, local beef was priced at RM30 per kilogramme, fresh chicken at RM10 each, ikan cencaru at RM2 each, and ikan keli at RM1 each…these special offers are in response to the government’s call to ease the people’s cost of living.

“Our approach involves inviting farmers and producers to sell directly without going through middlemen, allowing us to reduce the usual margin and offer lower prices to the public,” he said at the closing ceremony of the Agro MADANI@Pasar Tani Kekal Changlun Carnival near here today.

Abdul Rashid said Abdul Rashid said the permanent farmers’ market (PTK) in Changlun is the sixth venue in the Agro MADANI @PTK Carnival Tour, which has been held in Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, and Johor, with a projected total sales revenue of RM2.75 million.

He said that around 20,000 people have visited the carnival since it started last Friday, which also featured exhibition counters from government departments and agencies.

Abdul Rashid added that FAMA has sought government allocations to continue the tour and include more PTK locations.

“We have 40 PTK locations across the country, but currently, we have only conducted (the carnival) in six states. We have requested funding for the next year to extend these programmes to other PTK locations," he said.
