Increase In Number Of Flood Victims In Perak, Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- The number of flood victims in Perak and Selangor has risen to 225 people this afternoon, compared to 169 people earlier in the day.

The Perak State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, in a statement, said that as of 2 pm, some 82 people from 19 families were taking shelter at Dewan Kampung Pauh Behrang Stesen relief centre, up from 56 people in the morning.

It said that these evacuees were from Kampung Sri Behrang and Kampung Pauh, adding that the flood-affected areas are experiencing good weather.

In Selangor, 143 victims from 50 families in Hulu Bernam are now staying at Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Sekolah relief centre, an increase from 113 people this morning.

The Hulu Selangor District Disaster Management Secretariat said the flood situation is gradually improving, with overcast weather conditions.

The relief centre houses victims from six affected villages, namely Kampung Sungai Selisik, Kampung Serigala, Kampung Sungai Nilam, Kampung Sekolah, Kampung Masjid and Kampung Paya Lebar.
