PUTRAJAYA, April 3 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has been recognised at the Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2026 for developing MCMC NEXUS, a national network intelligence platform aimed at enhancing the monitoring and management of connectivity performance nationwide.
The commission received the accolade in the Analytics - Telecommunications category, reflecting its advancement in leveraging data-driven approaches to strengthen regulatory oversight and improve the overall quality of telecommunications services in Malaysia.
“The NEXUS platform enables real-time monitoring of network performance by transforming crowdsourced mobile measurements into actionable insights, allowing for more precise identification of connectivity gaps and faster, targeted intervention,” MCMC said in a statement today.
A key feature of the platform is its Auto Alert capability, aligned with Malaysia’s Mandatory Standards for Quality of Service (MSQoS), which enables early detection of potential service degradation and facilitates timely engagement with mobile network operators, it added.
MCMC said that the platform is built on strict privacy-by-design principles and does not collect personally identifiable information, with all data anonymised for nationwide analysis, and the Personal Data Protection Department has also confirmed that the application complies with Malaysia’s data protection laws.
“At the same awards ceremony, MCMC’s Human Capital Division was also recognised in the Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality - Government Organisation category for MetaHRise, an immersive learning initiative designed to enhance capability development through experiential learning,” it shared.
MCMC said the recognitions underscore its capability to develop high-impact, homegrown regulatory technology, while reinforcing its commitment to innovation, internal talent development and data-driven regulation in advancing Malaysia’s digital ecosystem.
